We get lessons from our children almost daily. Recently, they gave us an example of faith...
So the kids’ school had a “Donuts and Dads” event recently. We never mentioned it to the kids. Just dropped them off that morning as usual.
When Terence went back to the school, he arrived after the list was posted to pull the kids out of class. When the other kids began to arrive, and ours didn’t, he sought guidance from an official and ended up going to get the kids himself to bring them to the event.
Later in the day after he shared highlights from the event, he mentioned that the kids didn’t seem surprised to see him and asked me to ask them about it when they got home after school and activities.
So that evening, I asked them about the surprise visitor they had at school...
Kids: “Who? Daddy?”
Me: “Yeah. Were you surprised that he came?”
Them: “No. It was called Donuts and Dads.”
Me: “Yeah, but when you saw the other kids getting called out but you weren’t called out, didn’t you think maybe Daddy wasn’t coming?”
Them: (while looking at me as if I sound completely absurd). “No, Mommy. If it was for Daddy’s, we knew our Daddy was coming “
They couldn’t possibly know that both Mommy and Daddy needed this reminder. Maybe you need to hear it too…
Our Father ALWAYS shows up. No matter what it looks like. No matter if we’re watching others get called out for their blessing and we feel “left behind”. May we, too, have the confidence in our Daddy, that He’s always going to show up!
